For motorboat use, Yanmar makes main engines up to around 300kW. Like sailboat propulsion units, their reliability is legendary; but they are also light, compact and powerful.
The Saildrive has been found to improve boat balance, give more maneuvrability and better thrust. Drive by the famous Yanmar diesels, these Saildrives put a lot of dependable power in the right place in a boat.
Combustion power acts directly on the toroidal piston crown, boosting energy, decreasing thermal losses. Extra high output creates the tough torque needed for heavy duty jobs.
Now instead of fickle performance common to so many gasoline engines, the diesel outboard presents operational savings and long-term strengths that make pure sense to the commercial operator.
If you are looking for a silent, compact, power source, with minimum fluctuations, the new YDG is waiting for you.
These generators are purpose built to match the engine to the constant running load of the submersible pump, and alternator to the high starting capacity of the pump motor.

Yanmar's TF Engines, Many Ways Tougher, All Ways Superior

TF Series

TS Series

Direct Fuel Injection Produces Dynamic Power

Combustion power acts directly on the toroidal piston crown, boosting energy, decreasing thermal losses. Extra high output creates the tough torque needed for heavy duty jobs.

Bigger Displacement Gives More in Reserve

The enlarged cylinder volumes of the new TF engines increase power output far above comparably rated engines. And, with their longstroke pistons, they can also punch out much greater torque.

Perfect Combustion Combination Direct Injection + Bosch Pump

The high pressure Bosch pump, the hole-valve type injection nozzle, and the toroidal combustion crown add up to the ideal combustion formula for fast firing and complete burns.

The TF Delivers the Power It Promises, Right over 40°C

Another measure of the TF'S superiority can be taken from its power rating at the ambient temperature. Yanmar rates the hp of the TF while operating at 27°G, the ISO accepted standard. This gives the TFl10, for example, a rating of 11 hp. Other engines, rated at an ambient temperature of only 20°G, also specify the same 11 hp. But at the 27°C ISO rating they'll be giving less power than you should expect, while your Yanmar will be delivering 5.5% more! So you know that with a Yanmar you are getting output you can trust, even in ambient temperatures over 40°C.

Fuel used to maximum effect

The many advantages of direct fuel injection show in direct savings. You'll be getting the power you want with an economy that's unobtainable with other makes.

Dramatic Drop in oil Consumption

A special separator keeps gear oil and crankcase oil independent, effectively controlling temperature increases. This and other unique features help the TF achieve its remarkably low lube oil consumption.

(Tropical Conditions: 40°C)

a. At 2200rpm the max. output of the TF is 8.5hp, while that of similar engines is only 6.8hp.

b. The TF can produce 6.8hp at only 2000rpm with a specific fuel consumption of 174g/hp.h

So, by producing the same horsepower (6.8hp) at lower speeds (2000rpm), the TF consumes less fuel and at the same time undergoes less wear than an engine needing 2200rpm for 6.8hp.

Yanmar-the Complete Diesel Maker

From the basic blocks to the sophisticated fuel systems, Yanmar builds the complete diesel engine. It's a level of integration few other makers can claim.

Power to Spare Means Performance that Stays

A greater reserve horsepower range allows the TF engines to absorb overloads without loss of power effectiveness. This keeps the engines on the job when others have quit.

All-round Designs for Cooling Efficiency

* Coolant levels topped-up by a reserve tank.
* 10% larger cooling fan for a bigger breeze.
* Wet-type liners cool cylinder temperatures.

Better Lube System Improves Reliability

* A crankshaft-coupled trochoid pump accelerates lube oil flow, increasing its life and effectiveness.
* Oil pressure continuously monitored and corrected automatically. Alarm signals for large pressure drops.

Easy operation, Simple Servicing Less Vibration, Low Noise Level

Tanks 20% larger for longer runs without fill-ups.

Balancer reduces vibration.

Yanmar Spare Parts Its extraordinarily low fuel consumption is a result of this super-precise FIE and its direct injection system-the first ever to go into this type of engine. Now instead of fickle performance common to so many gasoline engines, the diesel outboard presents operational savings and long-term strengths that make pure sense to the commercial operator. When it comes to marine diesels, reliability is most highly valued factor of all. Each Yanmar diesel has been designed and manufactured using knowledge accumulated steadily by us since our founding in 1912. They are built for heavy loads and long running hours and can be matched up with any of the Yanmar engine protection or control systems. If you are looking for a high quality generator, consider one of the models built by Yanmar. Yanmar was founded in 1912 and developed the world's first commercially viable small diesel engine in 1933. For boats, the ability to slot an engine as low down as possible, or to mount twin engines low in the vee of the boat has been critical. The Saildrive has been found to improve boat balance, give more maneuvrability and better thrust. Drive by the famous Yanmar diesels, these Saildrives put a lot of dependable power in the right place in a boat.
